David and Goliath

The classical story of David and Goliath seems to be about the little guy cleverly defeating the big guy against long odds. It's those last three words I'd take issue with. Goliath showed up for the party in old, heavy gear expecting to go toe-to-toe with some scrawny kid. David did his homework and displayed adaptability. He showed up light, fast and twisty with high-tech gear--slings weren't commonly used in warfare at that time--and sniped the big, slow fella out from far away.

Goliath never had a chance.
