There seems to be a large bunch of people in the US, Canada, Western Europe, Australia and New Zealand (not coincidentally, the beneficiaries of the most effective military organizations on Earth) who are under the impression that if we all just linked hands and sung Kumbaya, everything would be, like, really groovy, and people would all, like, just get along.
One common thread I've noticed among people who espouse this ridiculous view is that they've never been anywhere near:
They are therefore in the same position as a virgin giving advice on sex, or a childless person giving advice on parenting, and are deserving of just as much loud, public (dis)respect. As Harlan Ellison said, "Everybody is entitled to an informed opinion."
